Salad healthy

Here's what you need to know to keep your salad healthy:

Just because they serve you salad doesn't mean it's healthy. Skip the potato salad and load up on greens and vegetables. Try some wet carbohydrates like tomatoes, greens, cucumbers and broccoli (if it is available).

Include cheese and boiled eggs to add some protein to your salad.

Add some mixed veggies like boiled beans and diced carrots, and fruit salads as sides and toppings.

Dress it up right. Avoid those mayonnaise and creamy dressings (like Thousand Island). They are loaded with fat and calories. Go Mediterranean and try the oil-and-vinegar-based dressings instead.

Avoid croutons (fried pieces of bread), nuts, crispy noodles and bacon-bits. Those little accessories can add huge amounts of calories to your healthy salad.
